The lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout and can be accessed in two ways: (1) Whiriwhiri Road: Park at the bend near the access point, cross the fence, and walk through a short section of bush to reach the lake. (2) Parkinsons Lane: Park outside the gate at the start of the lane (which runs south of the lake) and walk down to the jetty on the southern shore. The pistol club allows angler access via this route but asks that no one is locked inside the gate.
