This easy 10–20 minute loop trail begins and ends at the Puhi Puhi Scenic Reserve Campsite near Kaikōura, leading you through beautiful native bush filled with impressive podocarps, including several huge mātaī, a couple of towering tōtara and a magnificent kahikatea. The track offers occasional glimpses of the river and the adjacent cliff face, and a secondary path leads down to the river itself if you feel like braving a chilly dip. Access to the trailhead is via a gravel road. Use this location on Google Maps to help find your way there.
