Lake Tūtira Campsite

Camp at the southern end of the freshwater lake, and walk to Table Mountain Trig for views of inland Kaweka, Maungaharuru Range and coastal Hawke’s Bay. Enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking and sailing on the lake.

Track network closures for Tūtira Walkway

The area north of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council campground remains closed due to unstable ground following tree harvesting. The tracks above the campground going up to Table Mountain/Ridgemount track are now open. First published on 19 September 2024. Last reviewed on 1 July 2026.

Waikōpiro Loop Track access

Following rain events the Lake Tutira water levels rises and can take some time to go down. This also impacts Lake Waikōpiro. When lake levels are up it makes some parts of Waikōpiro Loop Track impassable. Be prepared to turn around should that be the case. First published on 8 June 2026. Last reviewed on 1 September 2026.
