Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
This track connects Kennedy Bay Road and Whangapoua Road, passing through regenerating native bush to a trig point located roughly halfway between the two roads. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views over the Coromandel coastline and the Hauraki Gulf. Access the track from either end: from the Kennedy Bay Road summit (opposite Tokatea Lookout), follow the steep track past the relay station; or from Whangapoua Road (SH25) , follow the old benched mining road and vehicle track. Help stop the spread of kauri disease: Scrub all soil off your shoes and gear before and after your walk. Use the cleaning stations provided. Always stay on the track.
No dogs.
Track information, access and weather can change. Confirm current alerts and land-manager information close to departure, tell someone your plans, and carry equipment appropriate for the route and conditions.
