Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
From the beach track marker, it’s a short but challenging 290 m climb to The Monument summit. The route ascends through the forest onto the ridge before emerging above the bushline. Extreme caution is advised—sections of the track are exposed, with crumbling rock and narrow ledges. A fixed chain is anchored into the rock to assist with one particularly steep section. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Lake Manapouri and the surrounding mountains. This track begins and ends in Hope Arm on Lake Manapouri, Fiordland, approximately 2 km north of Hope Arm Hut. Access to the track is by boat or kayak.
No dogs.
