Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
This coastal walk starts from the car park and follows a benched farm track along the ridge towards Wharekaiatua Pa. Domed bollards mark the route, which is well-formed and grassed. You’ll enjoy views across to Great Barrier Island and the Hauraki Gulf. Continue along the track to Muriwai Estuary, which is easier to cross at low tide, then follow the beach to the boat ramp at Port Jackson campsite. From here, you can walk through the campsite and back up Fletcher Bay Road to the Hilltop car park, or return the way you came along the Muriwai Walk. The track is exposed in places, so take care in windy weather. Use this location on Google Maps to help find your way there.
No dogs.
