Track Description Enjoy a refreshing hike through native bush to the Okere Falls. This is a very easy round trip, suitable for most fitness types, although there are multiple stairs and it can be very steep in places. Some parts have steep drop-offs. The well-maintained path follows the Kaituna River. It’s not safe to swim here as the water is turbulent and levels can rise suddenly. Watch children by the water’s edge. It’s a very popular trail, so give others space. Information panels along the way describe the area. Caves and glow worms are also found along the walk. Wear footwear with good grip and bring a torch with you. Toilet facilities and a picnic area are located by the car park. Getting There From Rotorua, follow State Highway 30 to the turnoff at Tikitere, then take State Highway 33. Look for a brown sign on the right pointing to Okere Falls. The drive takes about 25 minutes from Rotorua. Use this location in Google Maps to find your way there.
