Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
From the carpark at South End Reserve, head east along the track from the public toilets, before turning right up the steep route to the trig. It's approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to the summit, depending on fitness. An alternative route is to continue around the coast for 400m to Cave Bay, 20 minutes away. From there, the track gently climbs through coastal forest to the trig, taking around 1 hour 30 minutes. Combine both tracks together for an enjoyable loop walk.
Pauanui has a range of accommodation options. For those with Self Contained vehicles, camping is available at the start of the track.
The carpark is at South End Reserve at the end of Pauanui Beach Road. Use this location in Google Maps to find your way there.
