Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
This short walk is well worth doing if staying in Tairua or Hot Water Beach. It doesn't take long and it showcases kauri trees in various stages of development although the twin kauri themselves are by the start of the track. Care is needed underfoot and there are a few steps to navigate. The vegetation is lovely but has wide open areas, so care is needed to follow the path. The loop can be completed in either direction and does not reach a high elevation. This path is suitable for young and old, but no dogs are allowed. Take your rubbish with you as there are no bins provided.
These two Kauri trees, known as the Twin Kauris, are easily accessible and well worth the photo opportunity. You can see the Twin Kauri trees from the road. The short walk from the Twin Kauris to a smaller plantation of Kauri trees and other natives is currently closed .
