Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
The track crosses private land before forming a loop of easy gradient. It passes through regenerating coastal forest featuring kānuka, tree ferns, nīkau, tānekaha, kauri, pūriri and hard beech. Picnic tables and seats along the way offer good places to rest. You’ll pass several old mining tunnels and small stream crossings, some of which are bridged. Stay on the marked track at all times to avoid hidden mine shafts in the area. The forest here was heavily logged and mined in the past. Protect our kauri forests: Scrub all soil off shoes and gear before and after your walk Use cleaning stations where provided Always stay on the track Use this location on Google Maps to help find your way there.
