Alice Nash Memorial Heritage Lodge
This is a standard eight-bunk in the Manawatu region. This hut features a spacious cooking area and platform bunks. While there are no cooking facilities, it does have running water, a stand-alone fireplace, and an outdoor long-drop toilet. One of the main highlights is the large deck, which gets plenty of sun and is often used as a popular sleeping spot. There's also ample grass space nearby for pitching tents. Bookings are not required. This hut can be popular in the weekends due to the easy walk from the road end. Standard hut tickets / backcountry hut passes are acceptable as payment of hut fees, or make a donation to the Manawatu Deerstalkers Association (ANZ 01 0754 0023938 00).
