We plan to distribute toxic bait pellets containing 1080 by helicopter on 9 October 2026 depending on the weather.  The Rangitata-Rakaia headwaters conservation Area, Central southern Alps/Ka Tiritiri o to Moana Wilberforce Conservation Area, Rakaia Forest Conservation Area and Craigeburn Forest Park will remain open. You are advised not to walk the Three Passes Route on the day/s of the operation. See the Pesticide Summary Map for the operation area.  Once the bait has been distributed, it’s not safe to hunt for food or have your dog in this area for up to 8 months.  Warning signs and this web alert will be removed once the area is safe again. 1080 is deadly to dogs.
