Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
Spectacular view s over Lowry Bay makes this steep walking track worth the effort. Winding its way through mature native forest the track is well shaded from the sun but about 300m from the summit the forest gives way to open views. From the top of the trail, you can choose to travel a further 250m to the intersection with Mount Lowry Track. You can also include this track in a loop with Point Howard and Ngaumatau .
Be mindful of loose gravel when descending.
The trail starts from the end of Cheviot Road in Lowry Bay. It ends at an intersection near the top of Howard Road Track. There are regular bus and ferry services to Eastbourne and the surrounding areas. Use this location in Google Maps to find your way there.
