The Huia Dam Track follows a wide gravel road connecting the Upper and Lower Huia Dams in the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park. The track begins alongside the Lower Dam, offering calm waters and forest views as you walk. It is generally flat with a few short, steep sections, making it suitable for a walk or a run that gives you a bit of a workout. Toward the end, the trail climbs to the top of the Upper Dam, rewarding you with excellent views across the reservoir and surrounding forest — well worth the extra effort. The track starts at the end of Huia Dam Road, where a car park is available for visitors.
