Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
The track starts at Jardine Park (parking/toilets). It sits high above the shoreline all the way to Jack's Point and offers spectacular views of the mountains and Lake Wakatipu. It is a shared use track so expect to encounter mountain bikers. Have lunch at the clubhouse at the end of the track and get them to organise a taxi back to the start, or use lunch as fuel for the return trip. At Jardine Park the track links to Kelvin Peninsula Trail to Kawarau Bridge and all the way to central Queenstown via the Frankton Track . This trail is built and maintained by the Queenstown Trails Trust . If you’ve experienced this trail and loved it, please support them by donating today.
Generally a fairly flat track, but with a few steep uphill and downhill sections and some tight corners, including a couple of blind corners. There is good sign-posting and there is cell phone reception on the track. This is a shared-use track so expect dogs and cyclists. If you are riding the track, choose a mountain bike or a gravel bike rather than a road bike. Reduce your speed when travelling around blind corners. Watch children closely, as there are sections with steep drops by the track edge. Pack water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sunhat (for walkers) or a helmet visor (for bikers) in summer. In winter, carry plenty of warm and waterproof clothing – it gets very cold, particularly when it’s windy.
The Jack's Point Track is a point-to-point between Jack's Point Carpark or Clubhouse and Jardine Park .
