Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
This easy, mostly flat trail follows the river downstream through attractive bush, with plenty of spots to pause and enjoy the scenery. At the Fairy Pools, you’ll find a picturesque seating area, a perfect stop for a picnic. Walked downstream, the track brings you out at the historic Kerikeri Basin, where you can explore heritage sites and activities of interest. The track is well formed but narrow in places, with some steep drops close by. Please stay on the trail and supervise children at all times. You can start the walk at either end. From upstream, park at the Landing Road carpark across the river from the Kerikeri Mission Station. From downstream, start at the Rainbow Falls Road carpark beside Waianiwaniwa Falls. A concrete platform here, once part of the old power station, offers a great vantage point for a photo with the falls as a backdrop.
No dogs.
