Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
Leading directly to the Pencarrow Lighthouse, The Lighthouse Track is a narrow tramping trail that climbs its way uphill to this historic site. Information panels detailing the history of the lighthouse and sweeping views of the coastline make this track a great spot to explore. For easier access to the Lighthouse Track, continue around Pencarrow Head to the Lake Kohangapiripiri outlet.
Be aware There are no facilities or shelter in the area. The weather can be extremely changeable and strong winds can make biking difficult along the coast.
The track starts from the end of Muritai Road/Burdan's Gate, Eastbourne. Walk or ride 7km along the coastline to the clearly signposted start of the trail. Use this location in Google Maps to find your way there. There are regular bus and ferry services to Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.
