Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
This track branches off the Tuahu Track at Tuahu Kauri, about 25 minutes from the carpark. After a steep climb, it follows an undulating ridge to a viewpoint overlooking Sentinel Rock and the eastern Kaimai Range. On a clear day, the valley views are stunning. Do not use the old track to the top of the rock—it’s unmaintained and considered dangerous . Return the way you came. Use this location on Google Maps to help find your way there.
