Use annual kWh from the energy label or measured consumption. Rated watts are less useful because compressors cycle on and off.

Frequently asked questions
Why not calculate from rated watts?
Fridge compressors cycle on and off, so rated watts multiplied by 24 hours usually overstates use. Annual label kWh or measured consumption is better.
Can I include a separate freezer?
For identical appliances, increase the count. For appliances with different labels, calculate each separately and add the annual costs.
Where is annual kWh shown?
Look for the energy rating label or manufacturer product specification.
