This campground is situated on a working farm, containing regenerating native forest. The site is on a large grassed and north-facing open area with spectacular views.
Camping here is tent-only. There is no vehicle access. A composting toilet is available on site. Bookings are essential and can be made up to six months in advance. From 17 December to 31 January: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 10 people. From 1 February to 16 December: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 15 people. Please keep your campsite clean and tidy during your stay and when you leave. There are no bins or rubbish facilities, so all rubbish and recycling must be taken out with you. Dogs, pets, and other animals are not permitted at any time. Fires are strictly prohibited. Getting there: You can access the campground by foot from two locations. Pae o te Rangi Farm, Te Henga Road, Waitākere Access the campground from the stockyards and car park at 114 Te Henga Road. Here you will find an information board and locked gate. Continue beyond the gate on foot. The walk from the car park to the campground is 1.1km (20 minutes) along a farm road. The road can be slippery in wet weather. Long Road, Waitākere You can also access the campground via Long Road. Park to the side of the turnaround before the locked gate at the end of the sealed section of Long Road. Walk up the gravelled road then turn left down the Whatitiri Track for another 350m. The track is steep at points. Follow the farm track around and up to the right, to the campground gate. Use Google Maps to help find your way to Pae o te Rangi Farm or to Long Road
