This is a basic two-bunk hut in the Mackenzie Country and Waitaki area.
About this hut This is a very small hut that in November 2024 was rebuilt by BCT Volunteers. It has a wood stove, 2 bunk beds, mattresses, a long-drop, and water is from a stream nearby. Getting there 4WD access is possible up to the conservation park boundary, situated south of Monument Hut. If not, it takes 2 - 3 hours to walk from the Ram Hill carpark to Monument Hut. From Monument Hut it takes 3 hours to reach Huxley Forks Hut. You can either follow the track through the beech forest and cross over the swing bridge or follow up the riverbed, if river levels are low, to reach the hut.
Availability, fees, facilities, water and access can change. Confirm the latest hut information and alerts, carry suitable equipment, and be prepared for the hut to be full.
