Glencoe Walk is closed until November 2026, as access is cut off due to construction at the Hermitage Hotel. First published on 14 May 2026.

A maximum of 20 people (at a time) will be allowed to cross the first suspension bridge on Hooker Valley Track this summer. A 'pause' gate will be installed at each end of the bridge and compliance staff will be on site to enforce the 20 person rule. Engineers say the bridge is safe to cross but weight bearing precautions are needed due to cable wear.  First published on 22 September 2026.

Zero Invasive Predators distributed toxic bait pellets containing 1080 by helicopter on  9-10 April 2026.  Cyanide toxin (Feratox ‘strikers’) targeting possums will be stapled to trees or poles from 28 May 2026. The operation area remains open. It includes parts of Aorak/Mt Cook National Park, Liebig Range and Mt Cook Station Conservation Area. See the pesticide summary for a map of the area It is not safe to hunt for food in this area for up to 8 months. Warning signs and this web alert will be removed once the area is safe again.
