Explore the area
Explore the track route and surrounding area before you set out.
From Hunua Falls, head up the well-signposted track to the swingbridge over Cossey Creek. The track then travels up the gorge through mature bush with a combination of gravel, boardwalk and bush tracks. Be ready for a good number of steps to get the blood pumping! Once you arrive at the noticeboard, continue along the road towards the gate to the Cossey Dam wall. Return the way you came. The Massey Track which can be used to turn this into a longer loop walk is closed.
Visiting areas with healthy kauri trees Please make sure you follow these steps: Clean your footwear, tyres and equipment before and after visiting our kauri forests. If you are walking your dog, you should also make sure you clean their paws. Use cleaning stations every time you pass one while you are walking in a park. Stay on the tracks and keep off kauri roots. Stay away from closed tracks. Don't remove soil from, or bring soil into, areas with kauri trees.
The walk starts from the Hūnua Falls Parking area, located at the end of Falls Road. Use this location in Google Maps to find your way there.
