Angelus Hut Campsite is a small alpine campsite located beside Lake Angelus in Nelson Lakes National Park. Positioned at an altitude of 1650m, the campsite is surrounded by spectacular mountain views. There is room for five non-powered tent sites that must be booked in advance. Sites are located close to the edge of the lake, with views across the water and surrounding alpine landscape. A hut warden will be on-site at the nearby Angelus Hut throughout the peak season. From May to October the lake is frozen, snow blankets all routes, and the camping area will be covered in snow. Check out the Mountain Safety Council's Remote Mountain Cameras below to help you plan and prepare your trip. They provide data for avalanche forecasts and offer trampers a view of current conditions. Southern perspective looking out over Angelus Hut and Rotomaninitua/Lake Angelus. Northern perspective looking towards Robert Ridge and Speargrass Creek.
