This is a serviced 28-bunk hut in the Nelson Lakes area.
Angelus Hut is an alpine serviced hut located on the shores of Lake Angelus in Nelson Lakes National Park. At 1650m, the hut is nestled in a glacial basin on the Travers Range, surrounded by tussock-covered slopes and dramatic rocky peaks. The hut has 28-bunks split between two bunkrooms that are seperate from the communal kitchen area. A hut warden is on-site throughout the peak season, and bookings are required year-round. This is a remote alpine environment, from May to October the lake is frozen and snow blankets all routes. Check out the Mountain Safety Council's Remote Mountain Cameras below to help you plan and prepare your trip. They provide data for avalanche forecasts and offer trampers a view of current conditions. Southern perspective looking out over Angelus Hut and Rotomaninitua/Lake Angelus. Northern perspective looking towards Robert Ridge and Speargrass Creek.
Availability, fees, facilities, water and access can change. Confirm the latest hut information and alerts, carry suitable equipment, and be prepared for the hut to be full.
