Camp amongst the kānuka forest just off SH7 between Hanmer Springs and Lewis Pass. Boyle Campsite is on the Te Araroa Trail and at the end of the five-day tramp on the St James Walkway.
Convenient overnight camping for those walking the St James Walkway and Te Araroa. The campsite has separate areas for up to six vehicles/campervans and an enclosure (no vehicle access) for tents. Showers are available at the nearby Boyle River Outdoor Education Center, but only until 5 pm. Dogs are permitted in the campsite and immediate surrounds but not in St James Conservation Area, Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve or Lake Sumner Forest Park. Boyle village does not have any shops or public amenities. Springs Junction or Hanmer Springs are the closest locations for supplies or petrol. Bookings are required.
