This is a serviced 24-bunk hut in the Nelson Lakes area.
Upper Travers Hut is a well insulated hut, with double-glazed windows. It was built in 2004 as a r eplacement for the old Upper Travers Hut which stood in an avalanche path. It has 24 mattresses in two bunkrooms. In the main living are is a fire place, but no firewood is supplied from May to September, so you'll need to ga ther dead wood from surrounding bush. Do not fell or break branches off live trees. There are 2 indoor sinks with cold tap water. There are two long drops a short distance from the hut. Bookings are required.
Availability, fees, facilities, water and access can change. Confirm the latest hut information and alerts, carry suitable equipment, and be prepared for the hut to be full.
